Permanent Teeth-in-a-Day sounds almost too good to be true. Yet it is exactly what it is! The patient arrives in the morning and leaves the same day, with a comfortable, natural looking set of teeth.
How is this accomplished? We use what is known as the All-on-Four™ dental implant procedure. Pioneered in Europe, we were one of the first clinics in this country to offer it. Let’s look at how it got the name, and how it works.
The first step is a full consultation which happens prior to the procedure. Our dental professional will answer questions, and provide a detailed explanation about how the process works and what to expect. Together with the patient, the practitioner decides whether they are a good candidate.
Who does makes a good candidate?
During the consultation our professional dental team will go over the patient’s dental and medical history. Note that there is no age limit. The only age group that we typically avoid are younger children whose jaws haven’t stopped growing. It’s worth noting that often people who have had gum disease resulting in some reduced bone density are necessarily disqualified. No bone grafting is required with this modern technique.
The main criteria for the All-on-Four™ procedure is:
- The candidate has lost, or is losing most of their natural teeth.
- The candidate’s gums must be healthy enough and have the bone structure to support the implants.
Once the candidate is accepted, the rest is straightforward. The procedure is done in one day. The main step involves placing four implant anchors into the top or the bottom of the mouth. A small portion of each anchor remains above the gum for the bridge to connect to. After the anchor placement, a bridge, which consists of all, or a certain number of teeth, is connected to the four points. Thus, the All-on-Four™ moniker.
Once the implants and teeth are in place, patients are free to enjoy life, without the obstacles that regular dentures can introduce. The All-on-Four™ dental implants will not slip.
Many of our patients report that when they’re no longer worried about embarrassing slippage, a new social world opens up. They can toss the messy denture adhesives that are a hassle to use, and don’t always work and face the biggest challenge - fully and confidently enjoying their new smile!
